Florida Golf Clubs

Florida splits harder than any other state between clubs anyone can play and clubs almost nobody can join. Both extremes are reviewed here, and the gap between them is instructive.

Six Florida golf clubs sit in this category. Apogee (4.8) in Hobe Sound is the highest-scored club in our entire US directory — a modern ultra-private with nothing published about cost. Tiburon (4.6) in Naples is the resort counterweight: two Greg Norman courses you can actually book.

For golf you can play this week, Abacoa (4.3) in Jupiter is the clearest value on the list and one of the few Florida clubs that publishes a real number — $10,000 for new members. Celebration (4.2) near Orlando is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. design with no initiation, and Jacaranda (4.2) in Plantation gives Broward County 36 holes. Miami Beach Golf Club is the municipal option in a market with very few of them.

At the far end sits Indian Creek Country Club (4.6) in our Country Clubs section — the invitation-only club on the private island north of Miami Beach, with a reported initiation close to $1 million and roughly 350 members. It’s the clearest illustration in this directory that in Florida, price and access are separate problems.

Seasonality is severe. Rates peak January through April and fall sharply through the summer, and our reviews give the specific months where each club’s value case changes.
