California Golf Clubs

California is the widest price spread in American golf: about $44 a month for a Tustin Ranch card at one end, and a reported $250,000-plus initiation at Riviera on the other. Nothing about “California green fees” means anything until you say which California.

In Southern California, Aviara (4.6) in Carlsbad is the resort benchmark, and Black Gold in Yorba Linda runs from about $105 on weekdays with the best views on this list. San Juan Hills (4.3) is the value pick at $160 for a new IN-Club membership, $125 to renew.

Orange County and the Inland Empire carry the mid-market: Maderas (4.3) in Poway, Glen Ivy in Corona at around $84, Westridge in La Habra, and Tustin Ranch, whose $43.99/month Ranch Card is the cheapest committed-play option we’ve reviewed anywhere in the state.

Northern California is represented by Lake Merced (4.7) in Daly City — private, undisclosed, and quietly one of the best courses in the Bay Area — and San Ramon, where a shareable 50-round Eagle Pass runs $2,200. On the coast, River Ridge in Oxnard is 36 holes of straightforward public golf.

For membership rather than green fees, Riviera Country Club (4.8) in Pacific Palisades sits in our Country Clubs section, with reported dues of roughly $10,000–$40,000 a year by tier.
