Sequoyah National (4.4) in Whittier is the best course of the five — a Robert Trent Jones II mountain layout in the Smokies with nothing to pay beyond annual registration. It is the reason to plan a trip to western North Carolina.
In the Charlotte area, Warrior (4.3) in China Grove is the strongest daily-fee card and doesn’t post membership rates publicly, while Birkdale in Huntersville is the more convenient Lake Norman option for a quick round.
The Triangle is covered by Lochmere (4.1) in Cary, where annual membership requires an inquiry rather than a published rate, and Hillandale in Durham, a genuinely good $40 municipal round and the cheapest club we’ve reviewed in the state.
